By accessing or using the website at 8era.org(the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“User”, “you”) and 8era (“we”, “us”, “our”). We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Description of Service

8era provides a suite of free, browser-based tools for processing PDF and image files, including compression, conversion, merging, splitting, rotation, password protection, and more. All file processing occurs entirely within your web browser. Your files are never uploaded to our servers.

The Service is provided free of charge and is supported by advertising revenue. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice.

3. Permitted Use

You may use the Service for lawful personal, educational, and business purposes. You confirm that:

• You are at least 13 years of age.
• You have the right to process any files you submit to the Service (either you own the files or have explicit permission from the owner).
• Your use of the Service complies with all applicable local, national, and international laws and regulations.

4. Prohibited Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Process files containing illegal content, including but not limited to material that infringes third-party intellectual property rights, child sexual abuse material, or content that violates any applicable law.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract our source code beyond what is permitted by applicable open-source licences.
• Use automated scripts, bots, crawlers, or scraping tools to access the Service at a volume that places unreasonable load on our infrastructure.
• Circumvent, disable, or otherwise interfere with security-related features of the Service.
• Use the Service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the Service or servers or networks connected to the Service.
• Misrepresent the output of the Service, including presenting AI or tool-generated content in a misleading or fraudulent manner.

5. Intellectual Property

The 8era name, logo, website design, and original code are the intellectual property of 8era and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from our proprietary content without our prior written permission.

Our tools incorporate open-source software libraries, each subject to their respective open-source licences.

You retain full ownership of any files you process using the Service. We claim no right, title, or interest in your documents or images. Since your files never reach our servers, we never have possession of them in the first place.

6. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
• Any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
• Any warranty regarding the accuracy, reliability, or quality of the output produced by the Service.

You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy and integrity of any output files before using them for critical purposes (e.g., legal submissions, medical records, official applications).

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, 8ERA AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF BUSINESS, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

IN JURISDICTIONS THAT DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

BECAUSE 8ERA IS A FREE SERVICE, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CAUSE OF ACTION SHALL NOT EXCEED USD $10 (TEN US DOLLARS).

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless 8era and its operators from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgements, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to your violation of these Terms or your use of the Service, including but not limited to your processing of files that infringe on the rights of any third party.

9. Third-Party Services & Advertisements

The Service displays advertisements provided by Google AdSense. These advertisements are served by Google and are subject to Google's own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the content of third-party advertisements.

The Service may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of service of any third-party sites. Clicking on third-party links is at your own risk.

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which 8era operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of that jurisdiction.

Nothing in these Terms affects any mandatory consumer protection rights you may have under the laws of your country of residence.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
