8era (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website located at 8era.org(the “Service”). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our Service.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy is written in plain English so you can understand exactly what we do and, just as importantly, what we do not do with your information.

2. Files & Document Processing

Browser-Based Tools (No Upload)

The following tools process your files entirely within your browser. No file data is ever sent to our servers:

• PDF Compressor (standard files)
• Merge PDF, Split PDF, Rotate PDF, Remove Pages, Sign PDF
• Image Compressor, Image Enlarge, PDF Enlarge
• Image to PDF, PDF to Image
• HTML to PDF, Passport Photo

Server-Assisted Tools (No Storage)

The following tools require server processing because they rely on professional-grade server-side libraries. In all cases, your file is transmitted over HTTPS, processed in memory only, and the result is returned immediately to your browser. We never write your file to disk, log its contents, or retain it after the operation:

• Protect PDF — 256-bit AES encryption applied on server using qpdf. File is never stored.
• Unlock PDF — Password removal performed on server using qpdf. File is never stored.
• Word to PDF — Document conversion performed on server. File is never stored.
• PDF to Word — Document conversion performed on server. File is never stored.
• Password-Protected Files in Other Tools — When you submit a locked file to tools like Compress, Split, or Merge, the unlock step is performed on our server before the file is returned to your browser for local processing.

When you close the browser tab or navigate away, all file data held in browser memory is automatically discarded. Server-processed files exist in memory only for the duration of the operation — typically under a second — and are cleared immediately after the response is returned.

3. Information We Collect

We collect a minimal amount of non-personal, aggregated information to understand how the Service is used and to ensure it continues to function correctly:

• Usage analytics: Page views, session duration, referring URLs, device type (mobile/desktop), operating system, and browser type — collected anonymously via Google Analytics.
• Error logs: JavaScript errors (if any) logged anonymously to help us identify and fix bugs. These logs do not contain file names or file content.
• IP address: Your IP address may be processed by Google Analytics and Google AdSense as part of their operation. We do not store or log IP addresses ourselves.

We do not collect names, email addresses, account information, file names, or any content from your documents. We do not have user accounts of any kind.

4. Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies only through our third-party service providers (Google Analytics and Google AdSense). We do not set any first-party analytics or advertising cookies ourselves.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies, delete existing cookies, or be alerted when cookies are set. Disabling cookies will not affect the core file-processing functionality of 8era, but may affect how ads are displayed.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy and data practices:

• Google AdSense — Advertising network that displays ads on our site. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your information to any other third parties.

6. Data Retention

Because we do not collect personal data, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Anonymous analytics data is retained by Google Analytics for 14 months by default before automatic deletion, as per their data retention settings.

File data processed in your browser exists only for the duration of your session and is cleared from memory when the tab is closed or the page is reloaded. For the four server-assisted tools (Protect PDF, Unlock PDF, Word to PDF, PDF to Word), files exist in server memory only for the duration of the operation — typically under a second — and are immediately discarded after the response is returned.

7. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to remove that information.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data under laws such as the GDPR (European Union) or CCPA (California). Since we do not collect personal data, most of these rights are not applicable in practice. However:

• You can opt out of Google Analytics data collection by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
• You can manage Google ad personalisation settings at adssettings.google.com.
• You can clear cookies at any time through your browser's settings.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Service or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
